OSD Profile

Office of Structural Design (OSD) is a consulting engineering firm founded in 1996. Drawing on its founders’ extensive professional experience, OSD operates under the philosophy of technical excellence, effective service, prudent economy, and quality control. OSD works collaboratively with architects on special engineering systems. The firm’s principal also uses his broad knowledge of materials science and engineering mechanics to frame and resolve challenges encountered during building the projects.

OSD has been involved in a wide range of projects in the past twenty-four years. It has been very successful in the design of institutional, industrial as well as commercial projects. OSD’s capability in dealing with varying degree of challenges and providing solutions is reflected in the design of international projects as well as projects in the USA.

Theo Barbagianis, P.E.

Theo Barbagianis, P.E.

Project Engineer

As a Project Engineer, Theo performs calculations, modeling, and analyses relating to hydraulics and hydrology and manages the design and construction of green infrastructure projects throughout New York City.  His projects include assisting in the design and managing the construction of a treatment wetland in Flushing Meadows-Corona Park in Queens, designing a bioretention facility in Bronx River Park in The Bronx and designing over 20 right-of-way bioswales in the Gowanus neighborhood of Brooklyn.  Theo holds a B.S. in Chemical (Environmental) Engineering from the University of Southern California and an M.E. in Civil Engineering, with a focus in environmental engineering and water resources, from The City College of New York.  He is also a licensed professional engineer in New York and Connecticut.

Project Engineer

Mr. Renner graduated from Drexel University with a Bachelor’s in Civil Engineering, having concentrated in water resource and geotechnical engineering. He has experience in both design and construction aspects of engineering, having worked on projects ranging from residential and commercial development to heavy highway construction.

Justin Shih

Justin Shih

Project Engineer

He holds a B.S. in Civil and Environmental Engineering from the University of California Berkeley with a minor in Global Poverty and Practice. Justin has worked on basin scale groundwater modeling in California and anaerobic digestion in Ghana. He has volunteered with a range of non-profits, including the American Red Cross, and has project experience in India and China. He believes that green infrastructure is a major component of how we can redesign our communities towards environmental stewardship and civic mindedness.
